Item Details

Title

Working Paper Submitted by the UK

Topics

The UK further considers the list of agents and toxins currently under discussion by the Ad Hoc Group.

Date

1997

Conclusions

Reviews recently proposed list of weapons agents by the BWC. Human pathogens proposed for removal from the list include Chikungunya virus, Kyasanur Forest fever virus, and Clostridium botulinum. Aflatoxin should be added. Many plant and animal pathogens were also recommended for removal, largely for the reason that they do not cause enough socioeconomic damage.
