Protection Against Bacteriological Warfare

Item Details

Title

Protection Against Bacteriological Warfare

Topics

This memo for the Chief of Staff discusses measures to prepare US troops for biological warfare.

Date

1944

Conclusions

The US armed forces are not currently trained against biological warfare. Officers should be trained in how to respond to BW. All "X" antitoxin should be accumulated and transferred to England, and US troops should be immunized once better intelligence justifies such action. We should continue and increase production of "X" toxoid at Camp Detrick and in commercial biological houses.
