Conclusions

Investments to public health over the last several years paid off as the US confronted H1N1. We were better prepared to confront it, but there were still issues highlighted by the outbreak such as vaccine distribution. Other areas of continued concern include hospital surge capacity, strengthening the public health workforce, and disease tracking and surveillance.
