Memo from WRS to Lucas

Item Details

Title

Memo from WRS to Lucas

Topics

The writer discusses factors that make biological agents dangerous and lists agents of concern.

Date

1944

Conclusions

All biological agents have two characteristics of military importance: difficulty in detection and delayed action upon personnel. While there is a long list of potential threat agents (some presented here), enough laboratory work has been done with botulism and anthrax to conclude that their causative agents have military significance, although are unlikely to cause an epidemic.
