Title
Ready or Not? Protecting the Public's Health in the Age of Bioterrorism
Topics
This is the fourth report in the series that seeks to assess the level of preparedness in the states, evaluate the federal governments role and performance, and offer recommendations for improving emergency preparedness in case of a biological event.
Date
2006
Conclusions
Public health emergency preparedness is still not at an acceptable level. Indicators include vaccine stockpiles, flu vaccination rates, hospital surge capacity, and laboratories capable of testing for various biological agents such as anthrax. HHS and its agencies must define standards in order to have accountability and focus on partnering with the public.
